Gels + Aluminum Foil

I enjoy getting creative and experimenting with new techniques.  While packing for the Mrs. Georgia America Pageant this weekend, the kids and I decided to quickly try a new look.  I popped up my solid black, collapsible Kate backdrop and tried the technique two different ways.

First, like in the header image, I added a warm light reflected in an umbrella onto my son, then had my other child hold up a piece of aluminum foil with a tear in it, and faced two speedlights with Magmod blue gels reflecting on the foil.  For the second shot, the one to the left, I clipped the foil to the backdrop and moved the gels behind my son on each side, and then kept the main warm light on him.

Not sure how many ways I can use this technique, but I always get excited to try new techniques.  I love the look of it and can't wait to experiment more when I have time.
